Pianist Henry Butler In Studio
At the end of July we had the pleasure to reconnect with Henry Butler at CBS Studios in Manhattan, the second time we’ve spoken with Mr. Butler for “Heavenly Sight.” After settling into the studio (formerly occupied by Howard Stern & his radio show), we asked Mr. Butler about his experience as a blind musician. He talked about the music the listened to growing up and the importance of sharing the stories of blind musicians with both sighted and blind communities, saying, “It’s just good for the soul of mankind for us all to know a little bit about each other.” …And he even sang us an example of the call & response typical in the gospel churches of his day.
You can hear a brief clip below and once we are able to build our full website you can read the transcript, hear the full video and watch the video there! For now, we’ve uploaded pictures from the session.
