Dr. Valerie Capers attended the New York Institute for the Education of the Blind. She became the first blind graduate of The Juilliard School of Music and currently served on the faculty of the Manhattan School of Music. She has recorded for Columbia Records and played with Dizzy Gillespie, Max Roach and James Moody.
